Office of Public Health
The Office of Public Health is responsible for monitoring and reporting on the incidence of offender infectious diseases such as HIV, tuberculosis, sexually transmitted diseases, hepatitis and other communicable diseases. The department provides training and consulting services to facility health services staff. The Office of Public Health also coordinates and formulates policy for all Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) employee health care programs. This office provides technical assistance to the TDCJ Risk Management in matters of employee Worker's Compensation.
The Office of Public Health also utilizes a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (S.A.N.E.). This position collaborates with the Safe Prisons Program and is trained and certified as a S.A.N.E. This position audits the documentation and services provided by medical and mental health staff for each sexual assault reported.

Report HIV & Hepatitis C Training
Reporting of numbers for staff who have been properly trained on HIV & Hepatitis C throughout the year may report staff training numbers to the Office of Public Health e-mail: HIVandHepatitistraining@tdcj.texas.gov.
