Land and Minerals
The mission of Land and Minerals is to provide a comprehensive and profitable natural resources program with the management of approximately 139,000 acres of land owned and/or operated by TDCJ.
This department maintains all agency records relevant to TDCJ land issues including abstracts, deeds, title opinions, easements, seismic permits, oil and gas leases, land leases, etc. Future land development project issues and requests are also coordinated through this office. This department works with a variety of other divisions within the agency and with many other agencies providing valuable services such as mapping and acreage measurement services utilizing G.I.S. computerized mapping.
