2011 Governor’s Criminal Justice Volunteer Service Awards
Hazel Crivelli gives much of herself as motivator, teacher, recruiter, mentor, friend and donor. She is a role model as well as an excellent steward of her time, talent and treasure. She faithfully travels to the Darrington Unit in Rosharon, Texas, to facilitate classes in the faith based dorm, and to the Vance Unit in Richmond, Texas, to participate in the mentoring program. Ms. Crivelli extends her services to mentor the families of the offenders, serves as the Angel Tree coordinator for her church, and provides personal financial support for the various ministry programs. One offender wrote of her: “She shows us and reminds us that our past transgressions have no hold on our lives.” In 2010, Ms. Crivelli traveled 13,060.94 miles serving TDCJ offenders and their families. For her dedicated efforts, Hazel Crivelli has been selected to receive the volunteer award for Extensive Travel.
