Texas Department of Criminal Justice
Human Resources Staff Development is committed to enhancing the skills, knowledge and professional development of TDCJ employees through quality training programs and innovative training delivery techniques. Our goal is to offer the best, most effective, job related training possible with which employees can continue to improve the level of service provided to our customers, both inside and outside the Agency. Our belief is in the value and potential of each individual we serve.
Learning is a continuous process that supervisors and employees must partner to accomplish. Employees need to involve and fully commit themselves to this effort. As supervisors, the role as coach is critical. Coaching and frequent feedback helps an employee transfer the skills, knowledge and behavior gained in a training session to real life work situations. It is the application of skills and knowledge through coaching where true measurement of your training investment can be realized. When employees know how and when to apply their skills and the supervisor provides relevant feedback, performance changes are more likely to be permanent. The formula for excellent performance is a combination of training (learning skills, knowledge, and behavior) and application in the workplace. Partnerships between management and employees increase and accelerate the results for employees and for the Agency.
