Leave Without Pay

An employee of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ or Agency) may be granted leave without pay (LWOP) subject to the provisions established in TDCJ's leave policies. Leave without pay may be granted when it is determined to be in the best interest of the employee and the Agency.

Medical: work related

Medical: non-work related

Family Medical Leave

Up to 12 workweeks

Up to 26 workweeks to care for a family member who is a covered service member

General leave

30 calendar days

Military Leave

Extended for the duration of the active duty period, up to five years
