Special Projects

The Special Projects group provides project planning and support for the Commissary and Trust Fund’s department, which includes these four core programs:

Point of Sale and Warehouse system: Provides hardware and software support to commissaries, warehouses, unit and administrative personnel to ensure access to critical commissary sales and warehouse inventory data. We provide support and service for over 240 sales windows on units’ throughout Texas.
ID Card system: Provides Human Resources and Intake centers with equipment, supplies and help desk support to print over 120,000 ID cards a year. We also maintain a database that contains nearly 2 million offender and employee images. The images are used to reissue ID cards, for investigations, print mugshots, and emergencies such as escapes.
Trust Fund-Remittance Processing System: Responsible for hardware and software support of a Remittance Processing System which scans over 5,000 deposits a day, prepares an electronic file to update the Offender Financial System, processes electronic fund transfers from several different vendors and bank ACH transactions.
Offender Financial System: Provide system support to the Trust Fund and other departments, which interface with the Offender Financial System such as, PLRA (Prison Litigation Reform Act), Medical Co-pay, Indigent supply, Disciplinary, Craft shop, and the OIMS (Offender Information Management System).
