Parole Division Director Bryan Collier was named TDCJ’s Deputy Executive Director in July 2007.
Collier, began his TDCJ career in 1985 as a clerk and worked as both a correctional officer and parole officer before moving on to serve in a number of management positions. He served as director of the Parole Division for 5 ½ years and 4 years ago was named one of the “Best of the Business” by the American Correctional Association and featured in its magazine, Corrections Today. He is a past president of the Texas Corrections Association and is a member of the American Corrections Association and National Association of Probation Executives.
“Mr. Collier is a strong leader with the vision, background and ability to serve TDCJ in this role,” said Executive Director Brad Livingston in announcing Collier’s promotion.
As Deputy Executive Director, Collier assists the executive director with the overall management of the agency, which employs approximately 38,000 and supervises more than 155,00 offenders and 77,000 parolees and provides funding for the supervision of more than 430,000 probationers. “I’m looking forward to the challenge,” Collier said.
“I’m looking forward to working closely with Mr. Livingston and to serving the agency in a new role.”
Collier is a graduate of Sam Houston State University in Huntsville. He and his wife have three children.
