Sentencing
Offenders are placed on community supervision under certain circumstances:
- Deferred adjudication - The courts have been given evidence to substantiate a finding of guilt, but have made no finding of guilt.
- Adjudication - The courts have been given evidence to substantiate a finding of guilt and the offender has been found guilty.
- Pre-trial diversion - The state and an offender agree to defer prosecution and dismiss any criminal accusation if the offender successful completes certain sanctions or programs or both.
