Prison Deterrence Education Programs

The Adult Education Program (AEP) is an educational program designed for adults ages seventeen (17) and above on community supervision an opportunity to experience daily activities of a convicted felon in an institutional setting. Participants in this program shall have their Community Supervision Officer(s) present during the entire program session at the unit. Program participants will experience the incarcerated environment for approximately seven to eight hours. Program participants will go through a brief intake and orientation process, sit before a mock Unit Classification Committee, hear offender testimonies, work, be pat-searched, observe unit operations, and experience the disciplinary process. Program participants shall be escorted by security staff at all times while on the unit. Male participants shall participate in the program at an appropriate designated male TDCJ unit, while female participants shall participate in the program at an appropriate designated female TDCJ unit.
