Running for Elective Office: The Advisory Council on Ethics opinioned in their ACE Opinion #11 that TDCJ employees are not precluded from running for certain offices, with some restriction. As stated in ACE Opinion #2, and Article 16, Section 40 of the Texas Constitution state employees are allowed to serve as members of school districts, cities, towns, or other local government districts provided they RECEIVE NO SALARY for serving.
