The Allan B. Polunsky Award has been given to outstanding employees of the Polunsky Unit in Livingston since 2002. Recipients are chosen based on exemplary job performance, as well as exceptional personal traits.
The 2008 Polunsky Award winner is Officer Kenny Fisher, who has been assigned to Death Row since his arrival at the unit in May 2005. The extreme challenges and often unforeseen circumstances associated with this profession leave Officer Fisher undaunted. His impeccable work ethic and dedication to the unit and his fellow officers make him a natural mentor for newly-assigned officers. Officer Fisher rises above and epitomizes the ideal in correctional staff, displaying unwavering honesty and fairness to both co-workers and the offender population. He continues to lead by example, representing the vast number of men and women tasked daily with upholding the mission of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.
Officer Fisher’s level of commitment and devotion is worthy of the respect and honor associated with the Polunsky Award.
