Registration will begin on Wednesday, June 11th at the South Padre Island Convention Center. The Biathlon, Police Bike and Billiards 14-1 events will be conducted on Wednesday evening. Competitors that reach his/her 35th birthday in 2008 can compete in the 35+ softball and basketball events.
Reserve officers with at least one year of active service to his or her law enforcement agency are now eligible. Verification from the head of the agency represented must provide written authentication of the active one-year status. Retired military law enforcement personnel whose career duty assignment was law enforcement/investigations are also eligible, as are firefighters and Texas correctional officers.
In addition to the South Padre Island Saltwater Fishing Tournament, there will be a bass tournament at Choke Canyon, Calliham Unit, on June 12-13. Also this year, the cycling event has been replaced with a 15-mile circuit race.
The purpose of the Texas Police Athletic Federation is to promote physical fitness for members of the law enforcement community of Texas and other states by promoting athletic competition through the annual Texas Police Games.
