Well into its second decade of service, the TDCJ video teleconferencing network continues to grow. In 1996, the agency began with 12 video teleconferencing sites for offender hearings. The network currently hosts 64 sites across the state to provide media support for statewide administrative meetings, trainings, interviews, project management, and distance learning and hearings for offenders. The network is designed to provide teleconference facilities within a one-hour drive of each agency facility, and some sites are available on a 24-hour basis with prior approval from the Communications Department.
