81st Texas Legislature approves employee pay raises, retention payments

Despite an economic downturn that negatively impacted state revenues, the Texas Legislature has given most TDCJ employees an average pay raise of about 3.5 percent effective September 1, 2009, and another salary increase of 3.5 percent effective September 1, 2010.

Legislation secures retirement benefits for current, retired state workers

In simple terms, House Bill 2559 changes the retirement benefits package for new TDCJ employees and keeps things pretty much the same for current and retired agency staff.
