2010 Governor's Criminal Justice Volunteer Service Award

*John N., Substance Abuse Treatment Program

2010 Governor's Criminal Justice Volunteer Service AwardSince 2005, John N., a former substance abuse treatment program director of the LeBlanc Unit, in Beaumont, Texas, has faithfully volunteered his services to facilitate AA group meetings each week at that facility. He shares his personal struggles with the offenders, always focusing on the benefits of living in recovery. This is encouraging to those who struggle with their addiction. John N. has recruited other AA members to join the ranks of TDCJ volunteers to spread the message of recovery because he believes it is that important. For his dedicated service, John N. has been selected to receive the Substance Abuse Treatment Program volunteer award.

*The Substance Abuse Treatment Program of the TDCJ, Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) respectfully asks that no volunteer member be identified by full name in published or broadcast reports by the news media.
