2009 Governor's Criminal Justice Volunteer Service Awards

Mark Hollis, Religious Service

2009 Governor's Criminal Justice Volunteer Service AwardMark Hollis has been volunteering for the TDCJ Chaplaincy Department since the late 1980s. Mr. Hollis' ministry assists Chaplains in obtaining teaching materials and providing offender study material.

When Mr. Hollis heard that TDCJ wanted to have "Quest for Authentic Manhood" on all of its male units, he went to work through Texas Baptist Men-Inmate Discipler Fellowship and obtained permission from the publisher to copy the DVD sets used in the program. This allowed the Chaplaincy Department to obtain the DVD sets for a fraction of the cost.

Mark Hollis is a great friend to the TDCJ Chaplaincy program and for his committed service he has been selected to receive a volunteer award for Religious Service.
