Lorie Wills, Criminal Justice Administrator

2008 Governor's Criminal Justice Volunteer Service AwardAs the Warden at the Halbert and Hilltop units, Lorie Wills continually emphasized the need for programs. While working at the Hilltop Unit, she provided dual-supervision to the Youthful Offender Program and the Sex Offender Treatment Program. Through provided feedback, she motivated program and unit staff in such a way that enhanced their teamwork as well as increased employee morale. She has been said to "encourage unit administration and security staff to embrace programming." Other projects with which she has been supportive of includes the Women's Storybook Project, Girl Scouts Beyond Bars, Chaplaincy and AA volunteers. She was also instrumental in the development of "Gender Specific Training" which was designed to heighten the ability of Agency staff to work more effectively with female offenders. Because of her encouragement and support of programs, Warden Lorie Wills has been selected for the Criminal Justice Administrator Award.
