2008 Governor's Criminal Justice Volunteer Service Award
Sie Davis, Religious Service
Sie Davis has been selected as a recipient for the Religious Service Volunteer Award. Sie has been a volunteer for TDCJ for more than six (6) years and has been instrumental in helping offenders regain control of their lives and overcome compulsive behavior through the Overcomers Recovery Support Program. Overcomers is a 90-day faith-based program aimed at helping individuals to admit that without help they are powerless over the problem controlling their life, to address their character defects and develop positive characteristics, practice what they have learned and encourage them to share with others this message of peace and freedom achieved in recovery. The offender is led to take responsibility for their recovery and their future. Sie is responsible for bringing this very successful program into 24 of the TDCJ units.
