Christian Motorcycle Association, Most Innovative Program

2008 Governor's Criminal Justice Volunteer Service AwardThe Christian Motorcycle Association (CMA) has been selected as the recipient of the Most Innovative Program Award. This program initially began with four (4) members and has now grown to ten (10). These volunteers provide cell-to-cell evangelism on the transit wings of several unit. They visit once a week to distribute information from the Chaplain's office and to provide encouragement to first-time offenders who are unsure of their surroundings. These volunteers are bikers who demonstrate their devotion to Christ. The program is not only innovative but inspiring and the vol unteers are committed. Some members travel from Houston to Huntsville to spend two (2) hours with the offenders. Because of the persistence of Gary Zackery, leader of the association, and his belief in the program, offenders are able to observe God's glory in this unique capacity.
